High-density multi-input temperature transmitter — up to 8 sensor inputs in a single device. Best-in-class solution for high point-count applications: reactor temperature profiling, distillation columns, hotbox monitoring, tank stratification. FOUNDATION Fieldbus output only (3 AI + MAI + ISEL function blocks + Backup Link Active Scheduler). Accepts RTD, thermocouple, mV, and Ω inputs; with the S002 option, also accepts 4-20 mA inputs (mix-and-match sensor types per channel). Wide hazardous-area cert matrix — many regional approvals require pairing with a Rosemount enclosure / junction box.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus is the only output on the 848T. The high-density measurement model is fundamentally a fieldbus device — no HART variant.
Region-specific hazardous-area approval. Many cert codes (Type n, Dust, Class I Div 2) require pairing with a Rosemount junction-box enclosure (see Enclosure step below).
S001 covers virtually all temperature sensor types (RTD, thermocouple, millivolt, resistance). S002 adds 4-20 mA inputs (mix temperature sensors with pressure/flow transmitters into one MAI block) — only available with specific cert codes.
Required by many cert codes. JA-series is aluminum; JS-series is stainless steel. JS1 is a bare box (no entries); the others come with cable glands or conduit entries.
