Tank-gauging multi-input temperature transmitter — purpose-built for custody-transfer-grade tank temperature measurement. Integrates up to 16 Pt-100 RTD spot elements (Cu-90 also supported) over -200 to 250 °C, plus optional Rosemount 765 water-level sensor input. ±0.05 °C transmitter accuracy (excluding sensor error). Premium performance class, FOUNDATION Fieldbus / Tankbus 2-wire bus-powered output. Custody-transfer type approvals available for PTB (Germany), NMIM (Malaysia), and GOST (Kazakhstan) — requires pairing with a Rosemount 2410 Tank Hub and 5900S Radar Level Gauge of matching approval. Polyurethane-covered aluminum IP66/67 enclosure. Hazardous-area: Intrinsic Safety only (FM/CSA/ATEX/IECEx/INMETRO/NEPSI/TIIS/EAC/KCs).
The 2240S is offered only in the Premium class. Tank-gauging applications demand ±0.05 °C accuracy.
Up to 16 RTD spot elements (Pt-100 or Cu-90). Code 00 = no temperature spots (water-level-only mode, requires aux input A).
The 2240S is fundamentally a tank-gauging device — Tankbus FOUNDATION Fieldbus is the only output.
All 2240S approvals are Intrinsic Safety — typical for Tankbus-powered field devices in tank-gauging service.
Custody-transfer codes (C/J/K) reserve one spot position for an external reference — reduces available element count by 1 (e.g. selecting 16 + C yields 15 usable spots). Requires pairing with a Rosemount 2410 Tank Hub + 5900S Radar Level Gauge with matching approval, plus a display (2410 integral, 2230 display, or TankMaster).
Standard polyurethane-covered aluminum IP66/67. Only option.
M = ready to mount directly to a Rosemount 565, 566, or 765 sensor head (the typical Tank-Gauging assembly). W/P = installation kit for separate sensor + transmitter installation.
Ships factory-assembled to the transmitter above. Configured part number generated separately.
The tank-spanning length of the sensor. Metric range 2000-70000 mm (2-70 m) in 10 mm steps. US range 80-2700 in (≈6.7-225 ft) in 1 in steps. Custom length specified at quote.
ANSI raised-face flanges (A-L), EN flat-face flanges (1-7), or M33×1.5 threaded (code 0). All flanges in SST AISI 316.
1-16 spot elements distributed along the sensor length. Tank-gauging applications typically use 6-16 elements for full vertical profile.
IEC 60751 spec. Class 1/10 (code 2) requires four-wire sensor wiring.
Standard integrated installation with Rosemount 2240S transmitter is code 00. Specify a length code for remote-mount installations: 04-10 in meters, 13-33 in feet.

PDS: 765 metric range 2000-60000 mm (2-60 m, 10 mm steps) — note SHORTER than 565/566. US range 80-2300 in (1 in steps).
PDS: ANSI raised-face flanges (A-L), EN flat-face flanges (1-7), or M33×1.5 threaded (code 0). All flanges in SST AISI 316. Crude oil / petroleum tanks typically use 4-in or 6-in Class 150 RF.
PDS spot-element limits: wiring 4 → max 10 spots; wiring 3 → max 14 spots; wiring C → max 16 spots. (Water-level-only mode wiring=0 not exposed here — contact for quote.)
PDS: 01-16 spot elements distributed along the sensor length, with wiring-dependent maximums (see Sensor Wiring).
PDS: Class 1/10 (code 2) requires four-wire sensor wiring.

PDS-real codes. Closed (C) for light products; open (H) for crude and heavy duty. Range is either 500 mm (19 in) or 1000 mm (39 in).
Rosemount is configurator-heavy and quote-only — Valley Instrument verifies option compatibility, lead time, and pricing before confirming your order. Assembled configurations ship factory-built as a single unit.
